Why we only build custom financial software

Financial software is critical for any business, without it there is little chance that your company will be successful. Unfortunately a lot of companies don't get the software that they need. This is mainly because the off the shelf stuff that is available is often not capable of meeting the needs of many companies. You are usually much better off with custom software that is designed to meet your needs.

The main reason that we build only custom financial software is because all businesses are different and it is very unlikely that your needs are going to be met by an off the shelf accounting problem. If you have a very simple business with basic accounting needs you may be able to get away with something that is off the shelf but not for any other purpose. You need to have software that was designed with your specific business needs in mind. Otherwise you are going to end up with software that doesn't do what you need it do it.

There are many companies who go looking for accounting software only to find that there is nothing available that will serve the their needs. Usually what they end up doing is buying something off the shelf and then trying to muddle through with it. This rarely works and in many cases the company will actually change the way that they do business just to make the software operate. This is not the way to do things; your financial software should adjust to the way that you operate rather than the other way around.

In most cases companies will choose the off the shelf option because they don't realize that they actually have a choice. The assumption is that only big companies can afford to have their own software designed and built. This is not the case; you can get custom financial software for a very reasonable price. Obviously it will cost more than buying something off the shelf but not by as much as you would think. The real cost however needs to be determined by how much it costs you to have to adapt your business to the software.
